Troublesome Topic: DOES GOD TAKE COUNCIL FROM DEMONS?
According to Michael Heiser, the answer is “Yes”. The reason is supposedly that everything He created is considered an image bearer and a child of God. Therefore, God listens to them. He may not follow what they say but he listens.
But what about the numerous passages in the Bible that indicate that God does not ever take council from anyone? Some of those passages state it clearly, some are strong hints in that direction.
In Michael Heiser’s worldview, unless they are arch angels, the angles are simple messengers, and therefore not as high in the authority chain as gods who have control over geographic regions of the earth.
But how did the Nephilim enter the category of powerful entities who can rule regions of the earth, if they came from a union of simple angels, and weak humans?
Heiser says, “because God gave the nations to them”, to which my question is, “Why did God give the nations to simple beings that did not have the power of regional gods, unless he gave them greater power, which would make him complicit in their evil rule.”
Power and authority are obtained when a greater one grants that authority. Sometimes, someone like Satan will try to steal that authority by claiming to have authority which has not been given to him. But it is still a fraud and a sham. It is not true exercise of authority; it is someone pretending to have authority.
If God listens to demons, it legitimizes their cause; it makes what they are doing acceptable. This would pit God against Himself.
Next we will begin to look at the topic of DISINHERITED NATIONS.
