Translation

And ELOHIM said, “I command the waters to be gathered together into one place under the heavens, and let dry land appear,” and it was so.  (See comment below.)

Paraphrase

Then THE CREATOR AND OWNER OF ALL THINGS SAID, “Oh waters, I command you to gather yourselves together in one place under the heavens and allow land mass to appear. And it was done.  (See comment below.)

Notice that the text says the land was gathered into one place, not several. This gives credence to the idea that, at first, all the continents were together and were broken apart by the world-wide flood. Timothy Clarey, in his book Carved in Stone, does a good job of arguing that the original mega-continent was some form of Pangaea, and there is no need, nor is their evidence for, an earlier continent which some people have named Rodinia.
