Troublesome Topic: WHY IS THIS TEACHING ON PRAYER NEEDED TODAY?
Lesson 1 of 6I believe that, if someone had told a normal Christ-follower 200 years ago or even 100 years ago that our primary purpose in life is to give glory to God, they would have agreed wholeheartedly.
If they had been told that our prayers should also seek God’s glory, I think they would have agreed again.
If they had heard a statement to the effect that we should not make prayer about us, nor put ourselves at the center of something like prayer, they would have been in agreement yet again.
I think Christ-followers of yesteryear understood the concepts I have been teaching in these videos even if they would not have stated them in these exact ways.
The reason that teaching like this is needed today is that we have are part of an “I want what I want” culture, and that thinking is also seen in our churches.
We have been allowed to think that prayer is about us and for us, that it is a way to ask God for things we want personally.
The very fact that these things sound new to us is proof of the sad state of the church today?
The next lesson is YOU HAVE TIME FOR WHAT’S IMPORTANT. IS PRAYER IMPORTANT TO YOU?
