In a nice play on words, this is a form of the same word used earlier about Adam stretching out (sending out) his hand to take the fruit of tree of life. It is as if God were saying, “To keep you from sending out your hand to take that fruit, I will send you out of the orchard.”
2: “had been taken”
Man was made from dirt, and after death he would return to the earth, but now he would be closely associated with the dirt for his entire life. Today we no longer have a high percentage of our population involved in crop farming because of many advances in farming technology and the accompanying increase in yields. However, farming is still crucial. What would we do without farmers?
