If in fact, completeness could come about through the Levitical priesthood (for upon it the people were furnished with laws), what need is there still for another priest to arise, one that is designated [as priest] according to the rank of MELCHIZEDEK, not according to the rank of AARON?
Paraphrase
If in fact, a fully effective system could come about through the priesthood described in the book of Leviticus (in truth the laws that the people of Israel were given required the presence of a priesthood to carry them out), what need is left for another priest to be provided, one that is designated as priest according to the arrangement of ranks which put MY KING IS RIGHTEOUS as its head, not according to the arrangement of ranks which put THE ENLIGHTENED TEACHER at its head?
