The is a Hebrew word that is hard to translate because it is so broad and deep. It refers to a combination of “kindness, mercy, compassion, love, favor, goodness, piety, fidelity” and a few seemingly unrelated things that I won’t get into. “loving kindness” has become the most common way to translate this word because it covers two of the possible meanings. My rendering of “compassionate kindness” is similar.
