I was rejoicing in the habitable parts of the earth,

and my delights

were with the sons of men.

As the process unfolded I was rejoicing over how well prepared the earth was for habitation by man, and my delight was primarily with one aspect of creation—mankind.

The reason for the rejoicing seems to center around God’s creation of mankind more than any other aspect of creation. If the physical creation is a visible expression of who God is, and I am convinced that it is, then it would not have been complete without the creation of mankind, because we are capable of demonstrating more completely than anything created, who and what God is. We do not always choose to demonstrate God’s character, but we are capable of it.
