Similarly, you also have some among you who hold to the teachings that PROMOTE IDOLATRY AND SEXUAL IMMORALITY.

1: Nicolaitans

There is a connection between the Nicolaitans, Balaam and Balak. As explained earlier, the teaching of the Nicolaitans resulted in idolatrous practices and sexual immorality, the same two things mentioned regarding Balaam and Balak. This is a way to say the same thing twice, which reinforced the point that Jesus truly despises these things. Today, in many cultures of the world, sexual immorality in a variety of forms is considered no big deal. It is even promoted and glorified. Jesus considered it a big deal and so should we. Rather than allowing the world to teach us its values, we should ask God to teach us to love what He loves and hate what He hates.
