Troublesome Topic: The Resurrection Sealed the Deal

The New Covenant was unique in that the one making the covenant used His own blood for the covenant pledges. There is no greater demonstration of commitment than that! But Jesus did not stay dead; His Father raised Him to life again. The fact that Jesus is now alive infuses everything He did with power by adding a permanence to what He did.  (See Eph 1:19-20).

The effects of his sacrificial work are eternal; He does not need to be sacrificed a second time (Heb 9:12, 25-26).

His resurrection completes the victory he won over sin and death by submitting to death’s clutches for a short time.

He is able to keep justifying people because He is alive (Heb 9:28).

Because He is fully alive, He can equip us through the Holy Spirit to live our lives as witnesses for Him (Acts 1:8).

He is a proper High priest for everyone because He never dies (Ps 110:4; Heb. 5:6, 6:20, 7:15-17, 7:21).
