“Many daughters

The word rendered “daughters” has several meanings, some of which at not closely related to the others. This happens in Hebrew occasionally, but this example is one of the more extreme ones. The word can mean: “apple of the eye, branch, company, daughter, woman, first, old, town and owl”! It comes from a verb that means “to build.”


I have rendered these two words as “produced wealth” in part because the entire passage seems to focus on the management of a household in such a way as to produce security and long-term prosperity. The first word means “to be, to do, to accomplish or to produce,” and the second one means “strength, efficiency, wealth and an army.”
