spread their fragrance.”

“Arise, come, my Love;

I responded, “Arise, come, my Love,

My handsome one, come with me.”

The fruitfulness of the fig tree was seen as a sign of peace and divine favor. Its failure to produce was a national calamity.

Anything in its blossoming stage, before it begins to show wear or lose its pristine beauty, refers to beauty or a blessing that is imminent. Imminence is the focus. Reference to the vine brings in the concept of a prosperous future.
